TARAKI

TARAKI, or Tampereen Rakentajakilta ry, is a guild for students of Civil Engineering at the University of Tampere. TARAKI was founded in 1967 and is therefore the oldest guild in the university. It’s also one of the largest guilds with approximately 300-400 members. TARAKI’s guild room is located in the Building-building’s room RH209. As a member of TARAKI, you can get free coffee from the guild room and participate in all of the guild’s events.

The daily life of TARAKI is managed by the board. The board consists of 33 active guild members. Each of the board members are responsible for a specific field of activity from economy of the guild to events or taking care of the freshmen. 

TARAKI supervises the students rights and acts as a link between the students and the faculty, taking part in educational affairs. More about the studies here.

Events

The guild organizes many events during the year that support the networking and social well being of the students. The highlight of the year is always the annual gala. This year as the guild has its 56th birthday. TARAKI also organizes sitsis, sauna evenings, excursions and sports events. Find more about upcoming events at events and sports!

One of the biggest events is RAYT, which translates as Civil Engineering field’s enterprise event, a job fair that brings together the students and the companies. Many students get their summer job via the event. 

Sauna ferry

For the summer season the students have built a sauna-ferry that can be rented by the guild members. The long summer evenings can be spent on the lake with one’s friends, enjoying sauna, having barbeque, and looking at the beautiful Finnish landscapes. Building the ferry was a big construction project and proof of the engineering skills.

You can join TARAKI by paying the yearly 5€ membership fee. You can pay the fee in two ways.
